students are required to commit many hours for English listening practice,
but rarely do they practice for the purpose of language usage. A Chinese friend of mine likens East
Asia¡¯s English language acquisition techniques to someone learning to swim,
while never touching the water; students learn to translate, but never learn
to use their knowledge in any practical way. This lesson will help to bridge the
gap between the listening activities they are accustomed to and the listening
activities that encourage students to respond and use their English language
knowledge in a practical manner. Objectives: Students
