Curriculum Links:

¡×  This will be the first lesson for a unit on Audio in the EFL classroom.

¡×  Korean students are required to commit many hours for English listening practice, but rarely do they practice for the purpose of language usage.  A Chinese friend of mine likens East Asia¡¯s English language acquisition techniques to someone learning to swim, while never touching the water; students learn to translate, but never learn to use their knowledge in any practical way.  This lesson will help to bridge the gap between the listening activities they are accustomed to and the listening activities that encourage students to respond and use their English language knowledge in a practical manner.

Objectives:

Students will be able to¡¦

¡×  ¡¦use 3rd party audio to enhance a story.

¡×  ¡¦write at least 5 sentences in English describing a digital image.

¡×  ¡¦apply their prior knowledge of the English language to the lesson activity.

¡×  ¡¦analyze a digital image and construct a story based upon this analysis.

¡×  ¡¦invent a creative story based upon a digital image.

Media Literacy Objectives –

Students will be able to¡¦

¡×  ¡¦demonstrate and advocate for legal and ethical behaviors among peers, family, and community regarding the use of technology and information.

¡×  ¡¦collaborate with peers, experts, and others to contribute to a content-related knowledge base by using technology to compile, synthesize, produce, and disseminate information, models, and other creative works.
